Essential Tips for Moving a Piano Safely

Whether it is long distance or a short distance move, moving a piano is very hectic job. Before trying to do it yourself, you should consider hiring long-distance movers to transit your piano safely into your new location. Before moving a piano, the most important thing is to find out the appropriate moving supplies and materials, including moving blankets, tapes, straps, and screwdrivers.

When it comes to moving a piano, cover the keys of your piano by using a bubble wrap to secure them from any damage. Close and wrap with a packing sheet and secure it with the tape. Drape the piano in a blanket and cover the front, back, and sides, then secure it with moving or ratchet straps. Get assistance to lift your piano and carefully pass it by doorways and the corners to reduce the risk of any damage for your piano. Protect the keyboard by locking the keyboard lid, and if the keyboard lid does not lock, keep the lid closed when you wrap the piano.

Now it’s time to wrap the piano with the blankets and lift the piano and place the moving straps under the piano’s bottom, with a strap on each end. Lift the piano onto the furniture dolly and secure it by making sure that the piano legs are sitting flat onto the dolly. Secure it with the piano legs sitting flat on the dolly but in case if the piano has casters you have to lock the casters in place so keep it protected throughout the moving journey. Secure the piano in the truck with wood planks to ensure a level of flooring for the piano and protect it with moving straps to the truck wall.

If you are still not sure about how to manage the whole process, hire long distance movers to do this job for you.
